Flights suspended at world's busiest airport after drone attack

Operations at Dubai International Airport, the world's busiest hub for international passenger traffic, were temporarily suspended on Monday following a drone incident that resulted in a fire near the airfield. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority implemented the pause as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of all travelers and airport personnel.

The incident involved an impact on a fuel tank in the vicinity of the airport, which triggered a fire that was quickly contained by civil defense teams. Local authorities and the Dubai media office confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the impact or the subsequent blaze.

Major carriers, including Emirates, followed official protocols by suspending all flights to and from the hub during the disruption. This security event occurs amidst heightened regional tensions, as the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran entered its 17th day.

This is the second drone-related event at the airport in recent days; on March 11, two drones fell near the facility, though that specific incident did not lead to a suspension of flights. Authorities are continuing to monitor the situation to maintain the safety of the global aviation corridor.
